During the month of January eye4education worked with two very progressive schools who wished to invest in the promotion of language provision within their existing curriculum. St Joseph’s Grammar, Donaghamore and St Columb’s College, Derry/Londonderry decided to engage with eye4education in providing bespoke workshops promoting the use of languages within the current and future labour market both within NI and globally.
These workshops were delivered to Yr.10 and Yr.12 pupils before subject option choices with the anticipated outcome of increasing pupil numbers within the languages departments. Preliminary surveys conducted on the day, post activity, showed very positive signs of growth in selection of languages as a GCSE and A-Level option in both schools. Contact will be made in due course with both schools to find out the actual outcomes.
