Labour Market Trends Programme

Over the course of the academic year eye4education ran over 50 Labour Market Trends Programmes in School across NI - over 5000 pupils took part in this interactive programme

The Labour Market Trends Programme per region covers the following topics:

Investigating the NI economy and local labour market
Exploring the statistics review of school leavers
Understanding the National Qualifications Framework
Investigating progressive pathways to education (Apprenticeship/Academic/Vocational routes)
Discovering where to search for jobs and further education
Exploring criteria for employment and further/higher education
Investigating the strengths and weaknesses of a public profile
Importance of relevant work experience (positives and negatives)
Comparing aspirational salaries and national minimum wage
Exploring current in demand employment opportunities in NI and abroad
Working on context scenario based case studies

The programme allows eye4education and the school to research the local economy of where the pupils live or are likely to study and work. This data is collected and presented to pupils in a user friendly way, as well as a number of activities completed to emphasise the importance of the above objectives. To date this remains a very popular programme for Schools across NI, with bookings already taken for Sept 2015 – December 2015.
